The touch-screens monitored water in  the fuel, dimmed the lights, operated the fridges remotely and viewed three external cameras. Seat belted camper seats were added to allow the single cab to carry four people in certified seats. In 2016 Iveco introduced its Euro 6 compliant model, with revisions to the cab ergonomics and seating. This dictated some interior changes to the Earthcruiser models, but essentially the current model has similar on and off road manners to the post-2013 range. We reckon the eight-speed option will appeal to most Earthcruiser customers, giving two-pedal control that’s car like.
However, it is much more expensive compared to a Class 1 slide-on campers. They cost around AUD $30,000-45,000 depending on brand ute slide on camper   and additional features. Usually in Australia we put our truck campers on the back of a one tonne truck with a tray back.

Some lighting inside this storage locker would come in handy too. Further down is the two-piece, security mesh entry door and at the rear nearside corner, the lockable hatch for the toilet cassette. There's no coach light on the nearside wall, however, which would be useful at night. If you elect to not have the cassette toilet then you get drawers and shoe storage in its place, with a portable toilet housed under the dining seat.
When the beds are raised and people are occupying the seats, the dining table can be rolled out to a position between the occupants in the seats. By raising the outside edge of the table, it can be locked in place. The latest seat design has a fold down backrest which when folded up, provides a very comfortable sitting position. We are certified Torklift distributors able to supply the full range of Torklift products throughout Australia. We intend to travel for many years to come and, hopefully, we will sell a few campers along the way and continue to supply back up support to our customers .
Slide-ons come in full-height or pop-top models, with a body built much like a caravan – either a timber or aluminium frame with aluminium or fibreglass cladding or an all-composite body. Then there are the slide-on campers, that are generally more compact than a traditional slide on – and that fold out with a typically canvas roof for the living/sleeping quarters. Kay and I arranged to meet Garry and Robyn on their way to drop off a new camper to a customer. After checking it out, we loved it and 4 years later we still love it. The thing that makes it so good is you buy a camper for a not negotiable price but you get everything lock, stock and barrel, there are no extras, no hidden charges, you just get a great camper no more to pay. The things that count, the build fantastic, the finish fantastic, the cabinetry fantastic, the appointments fantastic, there is nothing made in China about a Northern Lite, I believe it is built to last.

The innovative design improves access in and out of the bed particularly for couples. Curved rear stairs with handrails make entry and exiting the camper safe and easy. The Quick Camper will fit on the tray of most one-tonne utes, whether it’s a single-, extended- or crew-cab. This includes popular models like the Ford Ranger, Mazda BT-50, Isuzu D-MAX, Toyota HiLux, Toyota LandCruiser 79 and Volkswagen Amarok, among others. The latest to arrive is the Quick Camper, a powered pop-top, solid roof and walls slide-on that in base form weighs less than 480kg and can be fitted onto most cab-chassis-type one-tonne utes. “MUSICA” is an evolving living module for everyone who loves the freedom of itinerant tourism.
Which means when you load the tray to its maximum with the likes of camper box, most of that weight is on the overhang past the rear wheel axle. A GVM upgrade will increase the allowable weight, but it doesn’t increase the structural strength of the chassis. Achieve a safe and stable entry to your slide on truck camper or RV with the Original GlowStep system. These self-illuminating GlowSteps glow in the dark for up to 10 hours with just a few minutes of light exposure.

One of the biggest issues with stock utes are their factory shock absorbers. Generally built for lightweight road driving, not the Australian Outback. Kerb Weight or Tare Weight – This is the weight of an empty vehicle with a full tank of fuel and other liquids such as coolant and oils. This is solely the driver’s responsibility, just because there are slide on camper manufacturers out there that sell 750kg campers, it doesn’t mean when mounted to your vehicle and loaded up, that it will be legal.
But no, I was trying to save five dollars and I just got the saddle with the one slide out. I headed back to the ranch, about half way home, nature called. I pushed the button on the saddle horn and the slide out sprung open. I climbed over in the outhouse and my damn horse fell over on its side. Gary Wragg is one soon-to-be traveller who has been thoroughly convinced by the merits of a slide-on as a Big Lap option.
Roaming the globe in an EarthCruiser is easy and the benefits are numerous. If you’re one of those lucky people who can sit in the passenger seat and sleep, then go for it. If not, wait until you’ve stopped to rest and then take a nap in the back. There are also mid-range models like the Toyota Landcruiser, Nissan Patrol, and the Ford F series.

They are a long standing company with an impeccable reputation with a range of campers that are well suited to the Australian market. There’s an option of double bunks in the room area for the kids while Mum and Dad sleep on the queen bed up top. They’re available in the popular single cab arrangement or, due to popular demand, the more recent dual-cab compact range. We actually have firsthand experience with these things and they offer a lot of comfort and versatility without unduly affecting GVM or fuel economy too much. Born from the need to tow a boat yet still camp in comfort with a minimum of set-up times, the Curlew Campers are another camper that fall into the “uglier than a smashed crab, but damn functional” category.
For some people having a $100K plus asset tied up in the back yard is also just not viable. The detachment of a slide-on allows full use of the Ute year round. While the vast majority of grey nomads still plump for either a caravan or a motorhome for their Big Lap rig, a growing number are switching on to the significant advantages of a slide-on camper.

The D250S Dual has the additional benefit of an auxiliary input which can be connected directly to solar panels without the need for a regulator, offering free power from the sun. The refrigerator/freezer units used by Innovan are built by EvaKool at Caloundra in Queensland using their normal components. However, the compressor and fan are located underneath the box rather than at the end. Instead of the Danfos BD 35 compressor, the Innovan units have the BD 50 compressor which is normally used in the larger EvaKool units.
The spring design acts as a shock absorber protecting the anchor points on your new slide on camper.
